  • Prairie Shore Interpretive Trail Located southwest of Gardenton, the Prairie Shore Interpretive Trail is a self-guided trail that showcases the unique natural heritage of the tall grass prairie. This accessible route offers an enjoyable experience for visitors of all ages and is well suited for casual walking and nature observation, including birdwatching and plant identification.
  • Agassiz Interpretive Trail Situated between Stuartburn and Vita, the Agassiz Interpretive Trail winds through a combination of aspen forest and tall grass prairie, both of which are considered rare ecosystems in Canada. The trail offers an immersive natural experience with opportunities to observe wildlife and enjoy quiet recreation. Visitors may choose from shorter or longer loop options, making it suitable for both families and individual outings.

Canoeing, Kayaking & Tubing

The Roseau River twists and curves through the municipality and eventually meets up with the Red River. It is richly surrounded by nature and wildlife so don’t forget your camera when you go canoeing, kayaking, tubing or fishing. If you launch in Gardenton Park, it’s a two-hour paddle to Stuartburn. If you have all afternoon, take some tubes and some friends and let yourself drift. Access points are located at Gardenton Park on Hwy 209 (by the old pump house or behind the Gardenton Hill) and at the Stuartburn Bridge on Hwy 201.
